We operate on a mixed-billing model, prioritizing private billing to invest in excellent facilities, technology, and staff, while also providing bulk billing for vulnerable patient groups. The Role:
We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and professional Medical Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our patients. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our front desk and contribute to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting and assisting patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Managing patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and confirmations.
- Handling incoming and outgoing calls, emails, and faxes efficiently.
- Managing patient registrations, updating demographics, and ensuring accurate data entry.
- Processing patient billings, Medicare claims, and private health fund payments (mixed-billing environment).
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assisting with general administrative tasks, including managing incoming mail and maintaining a tidy reception area.
- Liaising with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and pathology services.
- Managing medical records and recall systems.
Key Requirements & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical reception or administrative role, preferably within a general practice setting.
- Proficiency with medical practice software (e.g., Best Practice, – specify if preferred).
- Strong understanding of Medicare billing practices and patient rebate processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Desirable Attributes:
- Familiarity with the local Calwell community.
- Experience in a mixed-billing environment.
- First Aid certification.
